About Your Hosts

Pat McAloon and Monica Xia came to Orange in 2021 after living in Columbus, Ohio, for 20 years. As all of Ohio was part of Orange County during the years 1734-1738, Pat and Monica have really just moved "into town."

Pat & Monica met in 1999 while they were working for an eCommerce company in Shenzhen, China. At the time, their biggest competitor was a new company called Alibaba. Alibaba is now one of the world's largest internet retailers.

By training, Monica is an accountant, real estate agent, and Chinese interpreter. Her real love, though, is decorating. She earned her MBA at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, a BSBA from The Ohio State University, and a BA from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.

Pat taught Chinese at The Ohio State University for many years, and his interests include history, railroading, and model railroading. He holds a BA from the College of William & Mary and MA and PhD from "The" Ohio State University.
